THE 10th MEETING OF THE ASBU MEDIA TRAINING ACADEMY
The 10th Consultative Council meeting of the ASBU Media Training Academy was held virtually on Wednesday, July 10th , 2024, chaired by Engineer Dr. Ryiadh Najm, the President of the Consultative Council. The meeting was attended by Council Members, the ASBU General Directorate delegates, and the Academy’s Team.
At the outset of the opening session, Engineer Dr. Ryiadh. Najm welcomed the Council members, thanking them for their commitment to participating in the meeting. He acknowledged their continuous readiness to contribute to enhancing and developing the Academy’s progress.
Engineer Dr. Ryiadh Najm also extended a special welcome to Mr. Justin Kings, Head of the EBU Academy, who joined the Consultative Council of the Academy this year, succeeding Ms. Nathalie Labourdette. Dr. Ryiadh Najm emphasized Mr. Justin Kings’ commitment to continuing the strong cooperation between the two academies.
The agenda of this meeting focused on the training program implemented during the first semester of this year using various training methods and tools. The Council was briefed on the key elements of the 2025 training plan, with details to be announced in the next Council meeting in October 2024.
Council Members expressed satisfaction with the well-organized training courses and their diverse topics covering various strategic areas of the Academy’s professional audiovisual work, alongside keeping pace with technological advancements and ensuring high training quality standards, as shown also by continuous internal evaluations and performance indicators for these activities.
The meeting also highlighted the expanding scope of partnerships with international training institutions (HEC Montréal, UNDRR, FIAT/IFTA) and strengthening cooperation with traditional partners. Ms. Armelle Canet, Council member and Head of the HBS Academy, expressed great satisfaction with the successful and renewed collaboration with the Union Academy for Media Training.
Mr. Justin Kings, Head of the EBU Academy and Council member, praised both academies for their shared approaches in training and their commitment to the same professional values and standards.
Mr. Brecht Declercq, President of FIAT/IFTA, appreciated the significant success and strong determination witnessed in the partnership between the two parties, aiming to continue this fruitful cooperation.
Among the upcoming milestones for the second semester was the organization of a direct meeting with training officials from ASBU Member bodies to discuss ways to enhance training opportunities and further strengthen the continuous communication environment between the parties.
This coordinating workshop will be held in Tunis on October 1st and 2nd, 2024, just before the 11th Consultative Council meeting of the ASBU Media
